My Story

My love of floristry started long before Blossom Hill Floral Design.

​

From a young age, I was always experimenting with different crafts, before discovering my love of flowers. I would pick flowers from my Nan and Grandad’s garden and play with artificial flowers, making little bunches of my own. By the age of 14, I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I left school - I wanted to become a florist.

After completing college, I began my career at Daisy Chains Florist Ltd, where I had the opportunity to work alongside Sue and a wonderful team. Those years were a huge part of my journey. I learned the skills and knowledge needed to become a florist, but I also grew as a person and learned how important genuine customer care, empathy and building relationships are.

​

Nineteen years later, I’m incredibly proud to have turned my childhood ambition into my own business — Blossom Hill Floral Design.

​

I work from home on the Isle of Sheppey, from my very own shed workspace. It’s my little creative space where I can work closely with my customers and create flowers for all of life’s moments.

​

At Blossom Hill, I offer gift flowers, seasonal arrangements, wedding flowers and sympathy flowers. While I enjoy every aspect of floristry, sympathy work has become particularly close to my heart.

​

Being trusted to create flowers for a loved one’s final farewell is a privilege. I understand that, during such an emotional time, the smallest details can mean so much. I take the time to listen to each family and create something personal whether that’s incorporating a favourite flower, a particular colour or a design that reflects the personality of the person being remembered.

​

One of the things I love most about running my own business is the flexibility it gives me. I can work around my customers while also creating a balance with family life.

​

My two daughters are growing up seeing what it means to work hard and follow something you’re passionate about. I hope I’m teaching them the importance of kindness, empathy and dedication, as well as showing them that with hard work, you really can turn a dream into something of your own.

​

They’re often part of Blossom Hill life too and you may even spot them waving as I head out to deliver a bouquet!

After 19 years in floristry, I still feel incredibly lucky to do what I love. Blossom Hill isn’t simply a business to me. It’s a dream I had when I was 14, and one that I’m proud to have grown into something real, right here from my little floral studio on the Isle of Sheppey.

Being part of my local community is also really important to me. I love finding little ways to give something back through flowers, whether that's creating lonely bouquets to brighten someone's day, leaving free bouquets at the cemetery for people to take to a loved one's grave, or donating flowers to a local care home for residents to enjoy.

​

They may be small gestures, but I hope they bring a little kindness, comfort and happiness to others — because to me, flowers are about so much more than just selling flowers. 🌸
